Original Creditor Phone Calls

i know the original creditor does not have to follow many of the laws that a collector does but perhaps you can look into your state laws.. it does not seem right for them to be calling family at all, since they obviously know where to reach you at..

How do I find the state law for TN regarding this?

i really do not think it is right for anyone to call family members but as i said someone better versed in this is sure to come along. :)

They can contact them only to pass a message along to you. They are not allowed to discuss the debt with them. However, if your family tells them that they are not to call there anymore, they have to abide by this.

The laws aren't real clear on this. They are allowed to contact people to help locate you. However, they obviously know where your located.

i knew they were allowed to contact family to find people but since they really do know where the original poster is, is it illegeal for them to call family still?

That seems to be the mystery. I'm not sure if it's illegal for them to contact them when they already know where you are.

i am pretty sure it is i just do not want to steer anyone wrong.
