301 882 9975 - Does anyone dealt with Mann Bracken?

Mann Bracken is a collection agency. I think that you should first pull out your credit report to check whether they have listed their name in your credit report against any particular debt. If they have done so, just send them debt validation letter. Unless they validate the debt, they cannot continue the process of debt collection.
Now, if they have not reported the debt to the bureaus, you need not call them back. Even if they call you up for the debt, they need to send you a debt validation notice within 5 days of initial correspondence in order to claim the debt.

Jstncredit//please re-read your FDCPA. A collector must send out a notice within 5 days of the initial communication, not correspondence. There is nothing in the FDCPA about "claiming" a debt.


Credit reporting agencies are a paid service and some CA's do not report.Telling someone that if a debt does not appear they dont have to call could put them in danger. Yes it is possible that the debt is out of SOL but the borrower should probably do some research.Also some creditors do not report to all bureaus either.

Yes Mann is a CA and it probably wouldnt hurt to pull your credit report to see what they might be collecting on. Send them a DV letter...they will need to verify the debt before they continue collection activies. Until they do so, they may not contact you.

I did receive a notice yesterday from Mann Bracken stating that they are collecting on one of my AMEX accounts. I have 3 of them total, this one is 10k. They have my name and balance correct but there is no mention of which account number. They just gave me their file number. Their letter states to call a MD number but send correspondence to a TX address. I live in TX. I did pull my credit report from all 3 bureaus and they are not listed as collecting for AMEX.

Funny thing is that this is the 3rd letter this week that I have received a notice for collecting on this one particular AMEX account. Nationwide, Zwicker and Mann Bracken all claim this right and AMEX won't tell me which one is correct. All 3 will be receiving a DV letter.

My next question is, does AMEX have to follow any of the FDCPA regulations? In Texas I know you have to be very specific about WHO is collecting. Would AMEX have to follow this as well? And if they do, should I let them know that they are in violation? Or would this just make them mad?

Original creditors like amex are not subject to the FDCPA.

So then what you are saying is that AMEX can assign collection to several agencies at once and I have to deal with all of them? I thought that there couldn't be more than one CA collecting on an account at any one particular point in time.

The thing is that some collection co. sell it to another and that account can get sold to another collection co.

[SIZE=3]On October 7th at 8:41pm someone from 301-882-9975 called and played Baroque style music in a voice message for over 1 min. 43 seconds. Last week, someone left the message posing as a police officer (no reference to a Department or State). The week before that said only "I am coming to get you, just wait". Keep the calls coming!!! I am recording all of them. I am recording all of them and letting my friends and family have copies too. There is a serious law suit coming your way who ever owns 301-882-9975. ps ... when they posed as a police officer, they stated that there was a warrant out for my arrest.

They begin at around 9a and sometimes on Sun.,& neva leeve a message?
