I am dealing with this company now. I just recently found out that I have been paying over what I should be paying in interest for my state. I have sent them notification via email and i am going to fax and mail them information. The total of all the over fees is ove 1,000. I made a request that I be refunded the overages by check and that they only charge me $345 the max amount a loan company can charge in SC. I have also stopped payments on my bank account and will contact my payroll on monday to have my direct deposit switched to my new account. I will then close my current bank account. Hopefully, they will take it seriously, and I don't have to go to court. I believe my bank statements and the south carolina laws I have a solid case. I have also filed a complaint with my local offices. I do not want anyone to go through what I have been through. I urge all of you to check to see what is the max fee a payday loan company can charge in your state.

Thanks for keeping us posted. I am moving this to the payday loan section so more people will see it. :)
Quick update
Nothing final yet. I have not heard from them yet. I sent an email letter stating the laws they have broken in SC. I hope they are giving me my money back. I tried to log-in to my account today and recieved the following message: You do not have access to this site.
I am hoping this is a good sign since I requested that once the last loan is cancelled and I am refunded for all of my information to be removed from their systems. If you live in SC do not get a loan from them. They are licensed in SC, but they do not follow the SC payday loan laws. There were several violations that included: overcharging for fees, repeated loans (over 10), the list goes on and on. I will keep you updated on what happens next with this horrible company.
Unlicensed lenders are known to block you out of their websites
Unlicensed lenders are known to block you out of their websites as soon as you are on to them. They don't want you to have any proof of payments or access to loan documents.
I was pretty sure they were illegal. I don't know it they are related to Sonic or not but I do have their address.
How did you determine they were licensed in SC?

I asked them on the phone and they said they were. Now I am not so sure. I havent heard anything by mail. They did say they blocked me because of the letter. They had the nerve to say I had to make a payment to see my loan documents. I am going to record them next time I call. I am thinking I may have to file a lawsuit. So here goes yet another law they have broken. I just sent them another complaint online. I will not let them get the best of me!

They are not located in the US. I checked yesterday. They are located in Canada and are not licensed. They lied to you about a license. I will post their address later today as I don't have it on this computer.
You only owe them what you borrowed.
If I were you I would refuse to speak to them on the phone. Keep all communication via email or USPS.

People are crazy
They did indeed recieve my letter. I tried calling just to see why I have not recieved a response. They stated it was because of the cease and desist letter. Maybe I might be wearing them down I don't know. He says they have gotten every email and every chat I have had online. I asked about a legal office he said that it is being "handled" by the appropriate department. I filed a complaint today with the e-consumer.gov site. Typically, how long does it take to wear these sharks down?
I have closed my bank account and have my direct deposit stopped
I have closed my bank account and have my direct deposit stopped. I will get a read check on payday on the 30th. This whole process is very stressful. This company won't even contact you. I think I may have better luck if I go ahead and file the paper work for a lawsuit. I just may be better off in the end. I told my payroll about the PDL- They only recognize court ordered documents and student loans. Anything else is not valid.

Sorry about the multiple posts. I am not sure what happened there. But I thought I would do some investigating with this company. I went to the website and initiated a chat. The following is our conversation. I made up a name.
Please wait for a site operator to respond.
You are now chatting with 'Amy'
Amy: Thank you for visiting Customer Care. How may I help you?
Sandra: Hi amy I am interested in a loan but I have some questions.
Amy: Have you already submitted an application?
Sandra: Do you lend to residents in South Carolina?
Sandra: No I have not.
Amy: Yes we do loan to South Carolina.
Sandra: Are you licensed to lend in South Carolina?
Sandra: This is very important I know this, because if you aren't I won't be able to get a loan from you.
Amy: Yes we are licensed to loan with people in South Caroline.
Amy: South Carolina.
Amy: Sorry.
Amy: We are fully licensed.
Sandra: OK. I see there is a foreign address. Do you have an adress in the United States?
Amy: We don't have offices in The United States.
Amy: But we do have our head office which is located in Malta.
Sandra: Ok.
Amy: I can give you the direct site to apply on.
Sandra: Do you happen to know who the MFSA is? What do they do? I just looked up Northway Financial Limited.
Amy: I will find out that information for you.
Amy: May I place you on hold for a moment?
Sandra: ok
Amy: Thank you.
Amy: Thank you for holding.
Amy: I'm not actually quite sure what MFSA is, but Northway Financial Limited is our lender.
Amy: Our bank as you may call it.
Amy: Did you see what MFSA stood for?
Sandra: well while i was on hold i saw what it is.
Sandra: Well thank you for your time
Amy: What did it state it was?
Sandra: i will go ahead with the loan on the site
Amy: I can give you the direct link.
Sandra: ok
Amy: I can also stay on the chat while you make the application.
Amy: PayDayLand.com
Sandra: that won't be necessary.
Amy: I can process the loan faster if I assist you.
Amy: You can go ahead and click on that link.
Sandra: no I think I can handle it. Thank you anyway for your time. Goodbye.
So then, I went to the link she gave me. Totally different from what is on the Payday Avenue Website.
Then I went back to the Payday Aveunue website. I clicked on new customer (since I am barred from the site) This is what I saw at the bottom of the page.

I only received this after calling them out in my last complaint. I named everyone in ecare. I told them I knew about their scheme and I knew enough people to bring a class action suit against them. I sent another complaint to my SC dept of comsumer affairs again. I hope they do what I ask.
