Chase, 15K, 90+ days late offered me 70%. BofA, 15K, 90+ late offered me 50%. What do you guys think? How much can I get them down? Chase is really tough to work with. BofA seems realistic. Hopeing for 35% on both, I could do that.

How about Citibank? Owe them about $15 also.

If you wait past 150 days with BOA...they'll accept 30%...not sure about Chase.....good luck

Just curious, what is your background with this? Did you lose your job? Do you make enough money? I still have my job, want to do this, but I'm scared they might not settle with me since my credit was perfect prior. Also, are you settling all your cards at once or just some starting out?

One last question, how old is this debt? Have you already paid a lot of interest to these banks? I spoke to a collections manager once and he said the first thing they do is pull of your account's profile to confirm what it would take to break even when settling with you... Just my 2 pennies....

The debt is 2-3 years old. My wife and I both lost our jobs and had a child right in the middle of it. With losing her medical insurance we had to start paying Blue Shield $450 per month plus the deductible which was $7800. Everything started compiling and I stated using cc's more and more for everyday costs. After we liquidated our retirement accouts there was nothing left and I kept paying on the cards but no longer the minimum due. The cc companies have been nice about it so far and I can get some cash to put this behind me.
