Hi everyone,

I've been reading this forum and found all the advice very helpful. I'm in need of a little advice myself, so I'm someone can help me to determine if the following loans are legal in New Jersey:

Ameriloan - Borrowed 350, paid 315
LoanPointUSA - Borrowed 300, paid 0
Midland Financial - Borrowed 200, paid 60

I realize these were a very very stupid idea, and now I'm trying to get caught up. I've already revoked the ACH withdrawals, mostly because of all the stuff I've read about LoanPointUSA, aka Geneva Roth. They've already called me numerous times trying to work out a payment plan, but since Ameriloan wanted me to pay them an additional $680, I'm very weary of that idea. Geneva Roth has already told me to get my attorney and wished me all the best (not scared of that threat). Any advice? I want to settle these debts because I know I should pay just the principal.

I live in NJ, and payday loans are prohibited here. revoking the ACHs will really not work, Loan Point USA will go through under diffferent names and get your money. I had a loan with them and was never able to settle (to be honest, i left them unpaid - i am all for paying the principal on loans that are not legal but they were impossible and refused to work with me).
THe best bet is to close your account, just make sure the ACH will not push it back open. At the very least, go for a hard block. I know people do not want to do this and it is the worst part about the process but you will be okay, I promise.
Do not listen to your threats it will be fine. :)
