My dad has been deceased since Nov of last year and all of a sudden my mom got a VERY rude phone call from these guys. Would give her NO info other than it was a debt owed by my dad, demanded a death certificate and got nasty nasty when she asked for something in writing. phone call was received April 10, 2007 he died Nov. 19, 2006. this is at the very least a suspious compnay, and at the best a bad business to deal with.

I see that some of the people on this page are in fact officers at paragon inc... That have changed their last names, if you think you have been screwed by this company. write your atty general and the FTC. Talk to a lawyer. dispute your debt and get paragon to send you your signature and statments to verify the debt. Hold firm with this company they will settle your debts for 35%. ask them if they own the debt or if they are working the account for a 3rd party agency. if they own the account they will settle as low as 20% because they will have to sell it. when i was with this company they would not sue or garnish anyone under 1000.00 becuase of the lawyer fees involved. this may have changed. If you want to settle send the a 30% offer in writting and tell them you want all the calls to stop and let them know the only contact you want is by mail. and send it certified..... record your call and make sure the debt collector gives you the mini maranda every time they call. send them a check out of the blue for 25.00 writ on the back if chk is cashed then they settle your account for 25.00:) call paragon way and get the reference number and put it on your memo area of your check. this way the worker will thinks its just a payment and they might post it to the account. do every think in writing. note if your get anything from steve brown this is a register name to a vp name keith boehme.
if you are going to buy a home or refi don't let anyone pull your credit. if you call paragon and they have the right to look at your credit report and they can see if any mortage or bank has looked at your credit report and they will not settle because they know your motivations. becuase the banks have to put R/E on the trade lines. hell claim fraud on the account becuase the are required to investigate the account they will tell you its your job to get a police report I don't thik it is your responibility so talk to a atty.....
Paragon Pooheads
We keep gettting calls from Paragon Way and we have no idea why. We have always paid off our debts. We are worried that this is a scam. We don't want to even call them back but after reading some of these entries we are worried that they are messing with our credit report. Should we call them back or leave it alone?

I am dealing with them right now and asked them to confirm this debt they told me they didnt have to. I dont owe this debt, so this looks like a fight now.

I just received a call asking to verify my SSN. After I interigated them they said they were Paragon Way and still asked for me to validate. I refused and they hung up without any word.
Is this a valid company?
I am going to call my Attorney General's office and let them know about this

Paragon Way is a debt collector - they are asking for the last 4 of your SSN to verify your identity.
In the event that you feel the debt is not yours, that they are pursuing the wrong person, etc. - you need to tell them you are disputing the account, and then ask them for the account number so you can send them a debt validation letter. Get their address while they're on the phone, and send a debt validation letter via certified mail, return receipt requested so you know if they received it. (Post office will return the receipt to you as proof.)
Paragon Way Debt
I would like to settle my debt. I would like to also have it removed from my credit report. Is this something Paragon Way will negotiate?
What the heck is Paragon Way INC?
I also got a letter from Paragon Way Inc, actually it's from "Merchant's Credit Guide Inc" who says they represent Paragon Way and I owe them 346.00 for something I have no clue on. Is this some type of scam? I have never applied for any merchant credit whatsoever. If I don't see proof of this, I will be contacting a lawyer. I see you people have the same problem. If they deliberately try to ruin people's credit, maybe a class action lawsuit will come in handy
Pargagon Way
I have not dealed with them directly but Paragon Way had gotten a hold of my account that originated in 2000. Paragon Way was outsourcing my information to other collection agency. The first was Merchant Credit Services. After serveral months and faxes of documentation from Check n Go this account was PIF and even having a rep from Check n Go call Merchant Credit Services it was sent back to Paragon Way only to have the account sent to another collection agency CBCS for collection. I believe Paragon Way is a fraud in collections and tactics on tring to collect a debit. I would try to work with the originating client before contaction Paragon Way. Remember a debit on your credit is only good from 7yrs where after it will fall off. If a collection agency tries to through it back on your credit report contact the agency (Trans Union, Ecqua Fax) that reported the debit. They will take it off your credit upon prof of the originating date. The collection agency trying to collect on the debit can still try to call you but can not report it again on your credit. Remember to pay your bills on time or you will have to do alot of faxing and running around even after the debit has been paid in full.
Paragon Way
When paying off a debit from a collection agency and you are making payments. Send in a cashier check or money order with a letter stating the partical payment is to be applied to the orginal debit balance and keep a copy proof you have made a payment. When the debit is paid in full send a letter to Ecqua Fax or Trans Union depending on which credit report you have and state with proof payments the amount has been paid in full. They inturn drop it off your credit report. Collection agency's will try to collect on the debit plus their intertest they get from having your account with them. Dont be fooled by loud mouth collectors trying to intimidate you. A debit is only good for 7yrs, which after you can send letters to the different credit bueros and have them drop it from your credit report. You may need to send in proof. Remember even if you owe money you still have rights and are person who deserves respect. Just make sure to pay your bills on time to avoid any hassels.

I feel as though debtors need to pay their debt if you recieve a payday loan that contract specifically states to pay on your next pay day. Not 4or 5 yrs down the road then when paragon way calls debtor wants to have attitude with the collector, collectors ask if this is the last 4 of your ss for verification if not then theyll ask for add if this info is not yours then let them know and calls will stop if you never verify how do they know if they have the correct party or not. Best adv remember the golden rule if you were collecting you'd want the same respect
they have called twice
This company has called my mom house twice. They have asked to speak with my dad. My dad passed away this past February. They have been told this. They have asked to speak with my mother and she finally spoke with them. They told her they needed my dad's SS# to deal with some situation. My mom asked what it had to do with and they reply she got was " it is a matter that we cant discuss unless we have the last 4 digits of the SS#". My mother told them she would not just give out important information like that over the phone especially if they were not going to tell her what it was about. How do I get rid of this company and keep them from calling and bothering my mother who is still very bothered and emotional about my dad's death.
Paragon Way
I received a collection call from Paragon Way regarding a debt from a payday loan. I simply refused to pay it until they agreed to "tradeline deletion". They agreed and were willing to put it in writing before I pay the debt. You might have to speak to a supervisor/manager to get this approved but it works in most cases.

This company called me on several occasions, but would never tell me why they were calling. I returned their call and they said it was in reference to a "business matter." A few weeks later I received 2 letters stating I owed them money for a "payday loan." I have no need for a payday loan, nor have I ever had one. I called them, they tried to confirm my ss#, guess what it was wrong. This company is trying to rip people off by getting their ss#. DO NOT RESPOND TO THESE PEOPLE, THEY ARE CROOKS!!!!!!!
real company or fraud??
Paragon Inc sent me a letter asks to collect a debt amount of $186 from my old old..AT&T account(which I cancled couple years ago). I remember receiving the same letter twice in the past few years. I even made phone calls to AT&T company and Paragon Inc to dispute this amount...and I thought that it was all settled and cleared long long time ago...
now they send me the same letter again after sooo many years....how am I suppose to find the old phonebill and other information to dispute the charge with them?? Should I even respond...because..they even spell the company's name wrong (they wrote ATT instead of AT&T)...
PARAGON WAY
Another useless compnay tryong to rip off consumers.
You have the right to report them to the followings:
1. The Federal Tarde Commission
2. Your state Attoreny General
Crooks
Yes, we the consumers are smart than Pargon Way staff.
They should go out and find a real job in the real world. I suggest that the staff go to New Orleans and pick the debris left from the hurricane. That is the the right way to make money. By the way, does Pargon Way has an Employers Identification Number issued by the IRS? I know Paragon Way Inc. is reading my e-mail. If so I would like them to provide the public that they are for real. :?:

So I have recieved two phone calls from this company at my job. The first time I explained that I could not except calls at work and that I wanted proof of the debt. I got a letter explaining the debt, but no validation..I also recieved a second call from this company at my place of employment. I again expalined that I was not going to talk to them at work but the female on the line kept trying to get me to make a payment arrangement, and also accused me of not wanting to pay my debt. I told her to please quit calling me her at work. She said this was the only phone number they had..If this was a validated debt, wouldnt they have my home or cell number that was on the original debt? I am considering reporting them to the Attorney Generals office for violation of the fdcpa. Any advice?
Paragon Way
I got a call from a man saying his name was Vince today out of the blue saying I owed some rediculous ammount from back in 2000 which is 8 years ago to a department store, I said "ummm, no I don't" and he got all snotty wanting to know if I had proof I didn't owe it. I told him I have a current account in perfect standing with the store he says I owe and he just kept getting nasty, I demanded to speak with a supervisor adn he said none were available, I told him I didn't like his attitude and wanted a supoervisor, he sent me to a voice mail and hung up on me.
If I don't owe something how the heck am I supposed to prove it and what is with 8 years old and I have never once heard a word about a problem before?
Paragon Way
Apparently, this paragon way inc. attempted to contact me at work recently, but I was not here. They left me a message to call Sharon at 1-888-570-5007. Well, I am not sure if this is legit or not cause I no longer have any outstanding loan debts and haven't had any for more than three years, so I'd look into them first, they may be an ill-informed or unupdated debt collector. I have known people to file bankruptcy and get contacted years later about debts that were settled in bankruptcy. You have to send and resend your bankruptcy papers to these agencies.
calls from paragon
I too have never delt or even heard of Paragon way until I recieved very rude, sharp, and abrupt phone calls from them. Somehow they got my phone number correlated with someone else. They called my home demnading to know if the person lived there. Knowing that my phone number was not listed I asked how they were able to obtain it, especially attached to that person. On all three occations the representatives were extremely rude and refusfused to supply me with their means to accuiring my phone number. One even hung up on me. I contated my telephone company and even they told me that it is very peculiar as to how this company got my number. It is not found online, it has never been used before, and my telephone company does not sell their information. Eventhough telephone numbers are usually public information, mine is not; even so my number is to new to have been registered whith any data base yet,or so I thought. I am very uncomfortable with this situation. What gives this company the right to call my home and treat me that way? Its harassment!!
The last represetative even said "what do we have to lose?" He also refused to supply me with the acual address to where the company was specifically located.
to the 10 yr debt collector guest here
I have questions - what IS a validation letter from a collector? And what should it contain? I'm not sure what I'm asking for when I ask them to validate they own the accts. What does this mean?
Also, is it true that if you write on the back of a chk 'if chk is cashed then account is settled' they can no longer collect from you?
Also, can you explain what 'tradeline deletion' is?
My son is having problems with a debt he paid directly to the orignating creditor and still paragon way is demanding payment.
I don't know how to help him.
Can you please answer these questions and tell me where to find the consumer info rights everyone is talking about here?
Thanks for you help. :?
PARAGON WAY
I am beginning to get calls from paragon way but on the other end, won't nobody say anything. If this a legit company, why are they doing crank calls?
They ask for my private information and I tell them that I am not disclosing my personal 411 to stranger. Then they will say that I told you my name and what company I work for. That's just not good enough for me. Just because they tell who they are, it still could be a setup for something.

Hey. I'm glad I didn't have to fight in any war. I'm glad I didn't have to pick up a gun. I'm glad I didn't get killed or kill somebody. I hope my kids enjoy the same lack of manhood.
I am from Oman and too poorly know English, give please true I wrote the following sentence: "Title - internet sales of airline tickets."
With respect :-(, Natalya.
Cleaning up Credit
I was contacted by these people about a debt from over 7 years ago. There are 3 things you can use to your advantage. The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, The Fair Credit Reporting Act and yout state statutes on Debt. The FDCPA states that they can not contact you once you notify them in writing. Please refer to Section 805 (c). The FCRA states the time line they can report a debt to credit bureaus. Specificaly Sections 605(a)(2) and 605 (a)(4) read Section 605(c)(1) also it goes into the time line on which the "7 Year Clock" starts. Your state statutes will verify your legal position on the debt. by this I mean, can they legally sue you for the debt? In Texas the statute of limitations on debt is 4 years. Check your state statutes. I have formally sent Paragon Way a letter advising them to no longer contact me in any form. Advised them that they are collecting a debt that is more than 7 years old and they can no longer legally report the debt to Bureaus. Also, in the letter I advised them of the state statute of limitations on the debt. My debt was for a home phone service from 2000. The initial rep who spoke to me on the phone didn't know what to do when I started quoting specific sections of Federal law regarding debts and I was (after being placed on hold about 7 times by this rep) transferred to someone that thought they could bully me into paying. I advised them of my legal standing and they backed off. I used to have serious problems, but after 7 years of keeping my nose clean, and paying all debts on time, my FICO is over 750 and soon to be over 800 (two settlements will drop soon). I am in no way advocating not paying your debts, but Federal Law exists to give people like me a second chance. For these people to try and get around that is crazy. They will probably sell the debt off to someone else and I'll do it again. I have a letter ready on my PC just waiting to be printed.
