Collectors Calling my Parents

I don't think that they will stop calling your parents because they have no other alternative number to call you for the debt. Your parents can however file a complain against them with the Federal Trade Commission if they are harassing them. You can however, inform the creditors by certified mail that your address has changed and they may contact you at the new address.

Romelyn.diaz, all you have to do is send a Cease & Desist letter to the agencies (via certified mail with return receipt requested) telling them to stop calling.

The other reply seemed to imply that you're required to have a telephone number so creditors can call you. Uh, no. You do not have to speak with them on the telephone at all.

Find the form letter for Cease & Desist at this site and send out the letters. If they call your parents after receipt, they are breaking the law. This may not stop all calls, but it will cut them down dramatically.

Do not call lists do not apply to CA's. You have to cease them in writing...give them the girl friends number so they will stop calling you.

disregard the post above me..its rude and uncalled for..anyway send a collection agency cease &desist letter specifically stating all communication MUST be done in writing and that you no longer permit any phone calls. that should take care of em..just remember, sometimes a c&d letter is followed by a summons, debtor beware. not always but sometimes..is your debt w/in sol for suit in your state?

yes i'm sure it was a contributing factor, however it is not the only factor in this failing system and to put all this on one person is aweful..shame on you..as for the big companies going bankrupt, hence they brought alot of it on themselves..alot of bad bussiness decisions, ceos making how much$, i'm not saying not paying your debts is good-but i am also not saying its ok to treat one of our guests in this forum that way either..uncalled for...

I simply referred to the man saying that he owes money and they keep calling his parents. Then i said to stop causing his parents pain try telling the collector that he dont live there and here is his actual number. Dont come and complain that some one is calling your parents, fix it! I never treated anyone bad or said anything vulgar. I simply said the truth. If the truth is illegal in this forum i will take my thought to a more grownup one. One where people accept the truth and dont run from it and get mad at it.

I agree but people on this site have more than the tin mans brains and can use their own judgement instead of relying on the "clicky" mods opinions==often the new member has a masters degree cojpared to high school education that the "mod" posts SUPREME KNOWLEDGE and removes anything that disagrees with them or their "click" of friends==the real problem with this site=nothing should be removed=all members whould see all posts and themselves judge the validity of statements=reason why so many good knowledgeble mods left=because of bad mods creating too much drama=no posts should be removed=let all who enter read everything right or wrong and let them be the judge not the "takes it in the rear" "OOOH I'M GONNA DELETE YOUR POSTS--what if every post the mod deleted were the only factual ones? I disagree. It often happens that someone comes here in sincerity with a serious question and some mentally deficient high school shouting match takes place. People are looking for solid answers, if they wanted 1000 scattered opinions they would just Google......

And the Mods become Mods because of the accuracy of their answers, which proves their knowledge. If you think you can be a better Mod, then sign up, answer posts, and if your responses are helpful you may get to be a Mod too.

I personally feel that there should be Moderation of Guest posts (all Pending until approved) just like most discussion groups out there that have something serious and helpful to offer and do not wish to be reduced to a pathetic flame board......

However, when 12 year olds with too much time on their hands come up in here WITH ALL CAPS and insulting the regulars and plain acting like brats, from a business sense I do not feel that inclusion of such is warranted. Someone in SERIOUS need of debt help will not subject themselves to such petulant nonsense, they get enough of that from collection agencies, PDLs, junk debt buyers, and scam artists.

Regulars leave because they are sick and tired of being jumped all over for what amounts to a typo or a mistake (which we ALL make) and quickly become less willing to post and then they drift away with a bad taste in their mouths... So how does that help the site, again?

I agree so many before you worked so hard to be honest and offer their life experiences--and LATER left because the "clique" you belong to was not the one they chose to be affilliated with!!!!!! New people who find the site get attacked from the mods...posters who have posted several posts get attacked from the "clique" of mods ganging up on them....no post should get removed whether right opr wrong,,never never!!!!

I agree Chrys, their rantings serves no purpose or help to this thread. If brickface, guest, or whomever wants to vent about this forum then they can do it elsewhere.

People who visit here need help, they do not need to be attacked by negative comments and beaten down even further. That is what I saw in previous comments by this poster. Truth is truth, but at the same time people who come here know they are in debt. That is why this is a "get out of debt" community, not beat people up. Like you stated they get that elswhere.

This is why I suggested the Mods to lock the thread down earlier. Nothing will come of this and no one will be helped at this rate. Just my two cents.

Only the enemies of the site will be served by standing by whilst allowing this hijacker to rant on and on... He must've missed his meds the last couple of days....

It's not just this thread, that is why I said something. Numerous threads by what I believe to be the same person have been posted on a number of threads, attacking our regulars and our moderators, and even the unmitigated gall of attacking our honest and decent Guests who come here with legitimate questions expecting a rational response!
