here's my story

ok i went to college ca'chinge student loans $35,000. i got married in college to a real loser..we got debt together..bought a house, a car, a truck, couple charge card..total balance around 110,000...too much too fast while still in college..i worked 3 different jobs and went to school fulltime while my husband worked fulltime..marriage fell apart..we were too younge and not wise enough to know what we were doing financially..eventually we divorced but with lots of debt..the judge ordered him to pay this n that, and he ordered me to pay this n that also. he kept the house, i went to live on campus..i kept my car and he kept his..i could and did make the payments on my obligations....sounds good right???

not so fast..he decided his debts were too large to sustain his lifestyle and simply quit paying..mine i continued to pay not knowing what was going on..he's a good guy right? wrong! debt went unpaid..unpaid....unpaid...he eventually went to bk court...of course with he got a stay from creditors...i did not...after the court proceeding were done..his discharged creditors came after me b/c it doesn't make a difference what divorse judge ordered at this point...my CREDIT was going to pay..and pay dearly..

So after his bk discharge these debts were over a year to two old and delinquent..they came full force after me! the divorce happened in 2001 and the creditors were coming hard after me in 2002 half way through the year...i've been dealing with it ever since...its been a rough road but i didn't run with my tail between my legs and file bk..i think it might have been a quicker process to clean my credit, but i am an educated well balanced person who has generally taked responsibility for my debt...these debts are still here on my credit report hanging around b/c of charge dates have changed, collection agencies have changed, however, i understand most will have to come off very soon within the next couple years..i have settled many of these accounts and continie to work hard to settle the rest...but one question to all those whom are more educated than I: how do i settle a 50,000 home foreclosure debt???? anyways just wish me good luck within this very rough time...i think i can handle it..


as of today, if anyone cares outta the 110,000 i have settled everything except 850 is cc and the foreclosure...not sure what to do there...but i am getting there..my student loans are now paid in full..yippeee....the foreclosure debt seems to be my kicker....i still about 20,000...but it will come around at sometime...

some cc were paid in full..some were settled..but the best part was paying his medical collections that ended on my cf b/c they used my insurance for claim years ago..as for the foreclosure i have set up payments..and i mean payments until i die...lol..but is coming together nicely considering the past accounts...also, i did get an fha home mortgage for the first time last year so my future is looking better..as for how i did it, i work as a bus driver and a teacher at a public school and consistently maintain a work schedule of 630-530 everyday for the last 7 years...its been really hard but worth it..and as for the exhusband his credit is still aweful and he lives with his mother..hehehehe..guess screwing me with all that debt got him far in life..sometime the easy way out can just bite you where the sun doesn't shine...the last 850 i'm trying to settle on but they are very resistent....still working i know i will be able to pif by june....yippeee..and i certainly promise to help others on the way as my experience is able...

Hello,

I just wanted to give my two cents on the foreclosure. I don't believe you can negotiate on a foreclosure, as it is a secured debt. I know that it is very difficult to negotiate when someone has a secured debt. From my understanding the foreclosure will stay in someone's credit for a period of 7 yrs. I know of credit companies that were able to take foreclosures out of people's credit. So I know there is a way of doing so.
