Hi. Unifund placed a lien on my home when I was in default, but the judge removed the default and the judgment. If the lien is not removed in, say, over 60 days (I'm in Calif) can I appeal to the judge for a dismissal at my trial in August? Thank you.

If the default judgment has been removed from your credit report, the creditor must remove the lien on your home. You can ask the creditor to remove the lien in writing or you may take legal action. However, you cannot ask the judge for a dismissal of the case on this ground.

Hi. I had no idea that Unifund had placed a lien on my home back in August of 2007. Had my husband and I not applied for a home equity line of credit, I would never have known this. We have no mortgage on our home, so we had no problem being approved, however, this is very unsettling for me and I am wondering what to do. Thank you.
