Hey has anyone checked out Oprah dot com and seen Suzie Orman's advice on getting out of a high interest rate credit card.

- lets say your in way to ur ankles in a certian credit card with debt, all you can do is apply for another card and do a balance transfer.

- now here's the catch, she supplied a wesite www dot cardtrack dot com, and chose balance transfer cards. Now the key to this is to find a credit card that has a nearly 0% transfer fee, and 0% interest for the first couple months or even year. This year may give us the opportunity to repay the debt without interest.

- sounds smart, tried it myself and I was not approved for those cards. has anyone tried this?

Balance transfer card is the best way to come out of high interest cards because they have comparatively low rates on purchases and an introductory 0 APR on balance transfers for a period of 6 months. However for getting a BT card you need to have an excellent credit score

Yes, I was able to do that a couple of times, back when my business was doing well. It helped a lot, temporarily. But when that 0% period is over, WATCH OUT! Because they can then charge an interest rate that is so high, you lose everything you saved in the first place. It is a GREAT idea, if you are able to pay off your balance within the 0% period.

I have spoken with GHS about consolidating my debt. I had a nasty divorce which took 3 yrs to settle. The attorney's fees and 3 back surgeries drained me financially. I'm not sure if GHS is the right company to work with because they can't stop harrassing phone calls nor can they do anything if any of my creditors sue me. Can you give me advice because I have a mortgage which takes up most of what money I currently have coming in.
