Hi there,

I am a single mom and to sum it up I have just gotten myself in over my head in payday loans. I am current on all of them (embarrassed to say that I have 5), but it is literally taking my whole paycheck now. I don't have enough left to pay my bills. Here is what I have:

They are all internet based and I live in OH
Sonic Payday - Balance $381 (that is loan+fees) (300 + 81)
Cash Today Ltd - Balance $240 (loan+fees) (200 + 40)
Payment Direct Inc - Balance $289 (loan+fees) (200 + 89)
JHS Marketing - Balance $260 (loan+fees) (200 + 60)
Loan Shop - Balance $520 (loan+fees) (400 + 120)

Can anyone please tell me what I can do? I have been paying the fees portion. I really don't want to close my account if I can help it... but I can't keep doing this.

Any help and advice would be much appreciated!

Thanks!!

I believe Sonic Payday is the only company with a license. I am not sure if they are licensed in Ohio though whic is a requirement to be considered Legal.

Unfortunately you have alot if Illegal lenders accessing your bank account as well. How much have you paid on eac?

The first thing you need to due is secure your bank account.

The full amount for Sonic will come out of my account next payday. I've had to turn around and take out again though to give me enough to pay everything else.

I would have to look up the rest. I've been paying on them for a few months each probably.

I'm just tired of them and I want to get out from underneath them and be done.

So there isn't any way to possibly settle with them or anything? I'm afraid that they are going to get a hold of my employer and things like that. I have a new boss and lets just say that even though it is my business, I just think that she would look down on me for getting in to something like this. I almost feel like I have a target on my back already. :) I just want to make sure before I do anything. They may be illegal, but I signed something saying that I wouldn't close my account, so I don't want to go and get myself in to a bunch of trouble. If they are illegal, then I am ok, correct?

I believe it is illegal for creditors and collectors to contact you at work if you tell them not too. If they continue to contact you after that, you can report them I think, but I could be wrong. I DO know that it is illegal for regular collectors to call you at work or contact you off hours, but I don't know if that applies to PDL lenders, particularly if they are charging you illegal fees anyway.

All IPDL's are illegal in OH. Just make sure that none of these are installment loans as they fall under different laws/regulations.

As for the calls at work. They will call you and will not stop until you PIF or settle with them. Best thing is to level with your supervisor so that you do not get into trouble. You can tell them not to call you at work, but do you think that a company that ignores the licensing requirements for your state will actually honor your request to not call them at work?
