Please help me understand my credit report

Here it is:

Derogatory (Experian)
Derogatory (Equifax)
Balance:
$174 (Trans Union)
$174 (Experian)
$174 (Equifax)
Type:

Charge account (Experian)

Pay Status:
Collection/Chargeoff (Trans Union)
Collection/Chargeoff (Experian) Collection/Chargeoff (Equifax)
Two Year Payment History: *Each CR is reporting different here*
(Trans Union) BLANK
(Experian) 30 days @ March 2006; then 60, 90, 120, 150. White box @ Aug 2006 (which legend says means unknown), then CO @ Sept 2006.
(Equifax) 30 days @ March 2006; then 60, 90, 120, then 120 again, then white box @ Aug 2006 (which legend says means unknown).
Questions for the above box:
- Does the condition have to stay as "derogatory", or can I get it marked Closed (Paid) if I did indeed pay this? Or is there another term that should be used here? (Obviously I am looking for the least damaging term).
If it's been charged off, shouldn't the balance be reported as $0?
Two Year Payment History: Is this where I'll find the first date of deliquency? So in this case, the f.d.o.d. is March 2006?
Next, when I click on “more about this account, I see:
Quote:
TransUnion Experian Equifax Past Due: $174 $174 $174 High Balance: $189 Terms: Limit: $100 $100 Payment: $174 Opened: 12/01/2004 12/2004 12/2004 Reported: 09/24/2006 09/24/2006 09/2006 Responsibility: Individual Individual Individual |
- Shouldn't Past due be $0?
Then, finally:
Remarks:
[Trans Union] Payment after charge off/collection.
Canceled by credit grantor
[Experian] Account has been closed due to inactivity.
Unpaid balance reported as a loss by the credit
grantor.
[Equifax] Charge off - making payments.
Accounts closed by credit grantor
Questions for the above box:
The remarks just throw me off. So did I pay this, not pay this, LOL. Anyone I can have these remarks edited/removed?
So where do I begin with this one? Should I contact Macy's first? What do I say?
Or do I dispute with the credit report agencies first? And again, what do I say? Keep it simple, such as "This account is being reported inacurately. Please verify and update."
Thanks!!!!

a 3-in-1 is not always the best format to look at but it should fairly well mirror what is on the individual reports. Do you still have your statements and payment records? That would be the only way you can determine if you did pay this off but, based on what I see, derogatory would be accurate if indeed you have not paid this.
If it has been sold to another lender (JDB) then it would show a $0 balance. If Macy's still owns the account, then it will show a balance. Based on what you posted your DOFD is 03/06 since you're only showing 1 30 day late. Does it show a date of last activity or is 09/06 the last time it was updated? If so, understand that if they verify your dispute, your DOLA will show as more recent and I can guarantee you'll see a 70 point score drop. If you can determine that you have paid then dispute as "Paid before chargeoff". If not, then "Multiple inaccuracies/verify ALL Data Fields.

Dates on the report are date opened (which I know your not asking about) and date reported (which is 9/24/2006). I am assuming that "date reported" means that was the last time Macy's touched my credir report.
The only other date is under the "Two Year Pyment History" chart. Trans Union's portion is all blank
3/06 30
4/06 60
5/06 90
6/06 120
7/06 120 on equifax, 150 on experian
8/06 blank (which means unknown)
9/06 CO on experian only, (which means collection chargeoff)
Which makes sense that CO is @ 9/06, since in the other section it lists 9/06 as date last reported.
So you say if the date reported day changes and updates, that will drop my score? I thought it was only the date of first delinquency is what affects your score?
I'm kinda stuck on this one, which is why I held off on this. It would have been paid from my Washington Mutual Checking account which I closed in 2006. I am in the middle of a big dispute with them that has been ongoing for a year now, and I've just involved the Attorney General. I don't think they will be too forthcoming providing me with statements at this point. If I go into my storage room I may find a big box of old bills from before we moved but don't now how long it will take to find and how likely I will be to find it. Ugh, what to do?!

Date reported will be the DOLA on this one. The only significance the DOFD has is that is what starts the 7.5 reporting time period. The FICO/FAKO algorithm is heavily influenced by the DOLA. For example: I had a derog GEMB showing on my TU report that had a DOLA of 09/04. My TU FICO was 693. I disputed and GEMB verified and changed the DOLA to 03/07. As a result, my TU FICO dropped to 617. That's the chance you take with credit repair. 2 steps forward 3 steps back....
