The best way is to increase your score is to improve your credit
The best way is to increase your score is to improve your credit history by making timely payments on your existing debts. "Paid collections" does not help you to improve your score, but it definitely prevents the score from falling further due to judgments, which the creditor might might have brought to recover the debt.
I'm not sure whether charge card helps you to improve your score just like credit cards.

i have paid everything on time for 4 years,,no open collection accounts..no new ca either..still no score increase!!! i'm beginning to wonder if one can raise the score it seems impossible w/out going into new debt(which i have not done)
Can I ask what your score is? Inquiries and the amount of debts
Can I ask what your score is? Inquiries and the amount of debts owed compared to what the original debt was for also can impact your score. Paying on time is a big part of it as well.

Credit scores are tricky. And dont forget when going to by a house they take the best out of all three scores from each credit reporting agency. I believe they call it your "Beacon" score.
Maybe more passage of time and promt payments will raise your score soon enough.
They actually take the middle of all three scores.

Exactly. I hope the middle is my best score

Possibly. When was the last time you had a lender pull your credit? I can pull your credit here. I've done this for several people. It will give you a good idea of where you're at with everything.

Sometimes Lenders pull different scores. I have no idea why. People have been telling me this for years. I'm a loan officer so I have always had the ability to pull my credit when ever I wanted to check it. And I pull all three scores.
Everyone kept telling me our scores were different. Sometimes a little higher sometimes a little lower. I paid for my scores one day through myfico and learned that everyone was correct. myfico had scores were way different then the scores that lenders pull.
What are your other 2 scores?

I had the same situation as the guest did. But after hearing a report on good morning America, saying that creditors were being more laxed on accounts, and that you should call them to get things removed and taken off. My starting score was around a 575 composite, then after working with both new and old creditors, my score (after about 3 months of work) went to a 690 composite, i still call the open ones about once per week, trying to get them to remove negative remarks, i even got a car that was reposed removed from my credit from US bank. Trial an error worked best for me.
Hope this helps
raising numbers with alternate credit data
You need to add alternate data like your history of rent, utility, phone etc payments to your credit report. You can do it yourself at link deleted - ND Alternate data by itself can get a 650 score. The law says it has to be factored in.
Please refer to the TOS. This site isn't here for you to geneerate business - ND
Another way to raise your score
Another way to raise your score is to dispute inaccurate information on your credit report and get it removed.
Think there's no inaccurate information on your credit report? Think again! According to the Charles Givens organization a staggering 90% of credit reports contain inaccuracies. That means out of every 10 credit reports, 9 of them contain errors and only 1 does not. Do you think it more likely your report is that "1"? Or one of the "9"?
i just finished all my disputes and got several accounts deleted
i just finished all my disputes and got several accounts deleted..waiting to see about the very last dispute currently..everything is settled/paid as a collection at this point..
