Unfortunately, it is probably not possible to guess what they will do at this point. It's odd that more than 1 stopped calling... Did you ever speak with them?

They'll probably start calling back soon. Maybe since you didn't answer, they are verifying the contact info. They are the only ones who know, so we can speculate all we want as to their intentions.
If you can't afford to send them any money, then you are likely insolvent and should have no problems in court, should they decide to go that route.

Yeah it just seemed so weird that a few of them stopped all of a sudden out of the blue (on the same day I was looking up info and seeking guidance for credit settlement or consolidation) so that seemed very odd but I haven't heard much since. It just worries me what else could be going on, I really shouldn't be so fearful to talk to them but I am too scared and I will most likely be bullied easily. I cave pretty easily for people because I hate conflict, ugh it is a bad problem.

I completely understand, I am the same way. That's why I only dealt with them in writing and refused to speak with them on the phone.
How much debt do you have and are you getting behind because of a lay off or large pay cut?
Which CAs were calling? What stae are you in?

that has happened to me before - same exact situation. i avoided them and they "went away" well it turns out they sold mine to another (much nastier) collections agency but luckily by that point i found this board.

I have three charge off accounts that have been sold to 3rd party collectors, and they have stopped calling me too. I've been wondering the same thing as you have, wondering what they are up to next. But, I have actually talked to them a few times, and was unable to come to a reasonable agreement. I'm still trying to figure out what my next move will be since they don't want to work with me on what I can afford to pay. If anything happens with me, I'll let you know, I thought it was odd too how they just stopped calling.

I have recieved 1 written notice from creditors interchange about a capitol one bill of approx. $2000. They have called me several times, which I do not answer because they can be so rude. They stated in the letter that capitol one will continue to charge late and overlimit fees until this is paid. I have sent them a letter today saying that I can pay no more than $100 per month until this is paid and ask if they could stop charging all of these fees which has gotten me in this situation to start with. I was late on 1 0r 2 payments a couple of years ago and thats when capitol one started with all the fees, therefore I could not even make the minimum payment,so of course more fees were added.I would always send in some kind of payment but not the minimum due.so, I did not get anymore bills from capitol one and started getting collection letters. Client services contacted me first, and I wrote them a letter offering monthly payments and they wanted half.I stopped hearing from them and now its creditors interchange calling. I guess my question is if they do accecpt monthly payments will they stop with all the added late fees? Also,What if they don,T accecpt monthly payments? I would appreciate any advice you could give me. Thank you

That depends. They can work out a deal with you to freeze all interest, etc. that so you can pay on it. Did you send the letter to CI also?
You should also file a complaint with the FTC against them about their rude (and inexcusable) behavior, if you have talked to them (I am not sure by the context, but I am guessing that you have spoken with them at least once, no?).
I am pretty sure, hopefully someone can clarify, that after it is charged off by the original creditor, they cannot add those extra fees, etc., any longer.

i always thought that if the original creditor no longer has it, they cannot charge fees - could it be an in house collector?
