Just getting started and need some help.....

I'm trying to clean up my credit reports and have a question about my Transunion report. This is regarding a GEMB/JCPENNEY Account that IS within SOL.

My TU Rpt is reporting the account twice once with the correct account number and balance but wrong acct closed date. And then again with the same account number but with 6 different numbers in front of it (therefore the wrong acct number) with $0 but correct dates. They both have pay status: charge off

Now, LVNV is also listed on the report and they are reporting a balance with the "wrong" acct number and balance due.

Now what??

EQ 5/09 620
TU 5/09 515

You should dispute it with TU, because the FCRA requires both the bureaus and the creditors to furnish only correct information in your report. Once you dispute it with TU, they need to investigate it within 30 days and inform you of any updates. If they do not remove the incorrect information, you may file a complaint with the FTC.

dispute it. lvnv & jc penny are required by law to only report accurate info. if they are reporting inaccurate info, then you may be able to get it removed or ammended to accurate. i just had lvnv deleted from my tu file for this same reason even though it was not reported for 7 yrs..dispute if inaccurate!!
