I am in over my head with payday loans in Missouri. Does anyone know if Commerce bank will allow me to block ach debits and set up a new account while I get this straighten out? I am scared and feel hopeless.

Not that I know of. It's just commerce bank, NA serving Missouri, Illinois etc. I have talked to customer service "not my local branch" and have been told they can't stop payment on ach's without the exact amount and name. As i quickly figured out they can change the amount and still hit the account. I am embarrassed and humilated and afraid they won't be able to block or close the account.

i sent letters revoking ACH transactions to each PDL and when a couple of them chose to ignore this demand than that's when I went to the bank with my copies of the emails and the bank refunded me the NSF fees and also put stop payments on future debits. i told each pdl that they weren't allowed to present paper checks either as the bank would return them and also told them that i would not be paying any of their NSF fees.

I have heard of people opening another account in the same bank and actually getting that new account hit by all the PDL debits. I don't know how the bank can let that happen but it does. I couldn't close my account because of a bank loan on the account and couldn't do the debit block because of that, too. That was the only problem I had with the bank but they did the stop payments and when the PDL's tried to go in again under a different name, the bank questioned the ACH.

But anyway, I would agree to go to a different bank and open a new account but I think what helped me was I took the sample ACH revocation letter from this site and used it for all my PDL's and this way I had proof and gave it to the bank. I also didn't ignore the PDL's meaning I let them know that the attorney general was aware of what's going on and I even have emails and phone numbers from AG's of different states that I spoke with. I would tell the PDL representatives that the attorney general wanted to speak with them personally at their job and their homes and that they would be contacted several times a day. lol
