i had a loan thru cash adv now which is illegal lin my state. i borrowed 970 from them and paid 1300. i sent my letters out with no response from the company. today i get a phone call from jerry garcia from capital collections stating that he is gonna call my references and my work. i stated he cannot do that and i want documentation that they are legal to collect in the state of wash. he stated he's a lawyer not a collection agency. i told him if that were true i would have received an official letter in the mail. i also told him that i wanted copies of my documents, his license to collect and the license from cash adv now to loan to wash state residents. he said i would get that on monday. we shall see. advice anyone?

what # comes up on your caller id?maybe we can get an address that way.i doubt you will get anything from them in the mail.once we find the address send DV and C&D letters.send them certified mail return receipt.even if this is an attorney.he is collecting.therefore must follow the FDCPA.

sometimes a CA will have one address on the letter, but on the envelope will be a different one.as far as the fax goes.he can put whatever he wants on there.if you want you can go to the bar association website and confirm there is someone of that name as a licensed attorney.judging by how he has conducted himself.i doubt he is.

They have an F rating with the Better Business Bureau, they do not even respond to them when a complaint is filed. I have filed a complaint there but also with the Federal Trade Commission for their illegal debt collection actions. I highly reccommend you all do the same.
