I've been getting calls from these people for months, from foreign voices garbling the name. Today I received a voice mail message with a clear enough name to tell they are calling for my EX husband, who I have had NO contact with in 25 years. How do I get them to cease and desist. I owe them nothing so have no reason to ask them to prove any debt. They are calling and asking for the wrong person, pure and simple. Everything I see on debt collection talks about what to do when they're asking for you. Nothing talks about what to do when they're asking for someone else.

check your credit report just to make sure they are not there...if they are there, send a debt validation letter..anyway, you can send them a cease & desist letter explaining the situation..short sweet to the point..he's my ex and i don't know where he is..(or if he was a bad x tell em where he is) make sure to write in c&d not to contact via telephone..send certified return reciept mail and KEEP all your paperwork..if they continue to call for an unvalidated debt despite c&d letter-sue em!!! procedure is basically the same even if its not you involved atleast in some regards..
