I recently got my first ever credit report through Experian. I found a debt for a credit card I NEVER had! I did not request it, never received a bill or anything. The Status says: collection account. $*** past due as of May 2009. I disputed the charge since I have no clue what it is and it says under my statement: Account information disputed by consumer (Meets requirement of the FCRA). It says that the item was verified and updated on May 2009. Right below that debt it shows the same debt again, but this time with the original creditor listed as the contact company. It says the debt was transferred, closed and $*** written off. Under Creditor Statement it says purchased by another lender.

I want to get these items removed from my credit as it appears to be Fraud, since I have NEVER gotten anything from either of those companies. Who should I contact, what do I need to do to resolve these matters and get them removed from my credit?

I think it is the case of identity theft and so you should first register a complain of identity theft with the FTC. After filing the complaint online, you can take a print out of it and file a complaint with the local police station. Then you should dispute the listing with the bureaus by sending them a copy of the complaint along with the dispute letter.
