I disputed an account with diversified and sent them a letter. they sent me back a front copy of a bill from sprint which I never had. The address is correct but I didnt have sprint service.
now in the verification letter i asked them to show that they are licensed to collect.. it ddoesnt show that. all it shows is the page like the front page of a cell phone bill.. nothing itemized.. does this constitute as "proof"??

Actually the creditor or the collection agency is not bound to provide you with proof of their license as per the FDCPA. But since you are sure that you do not owe the debt, you can send a dispute letter directly to the bureaus and ask them to remove it from you report, if you find it listed there.
