Hello all

I consolidate my student loan about 2 years ago and now i got 8 listed as "Installment" as account type. Will this hurt my credit score? can i request EQ and TU to deleted them? This is list under salliemae

Under installment loan, you agree to repay back the loan under equal monthly payments for a fixed period of time. I think you might have missed your payments and the missed payments have been reported to the bureaus by Sallie Mae. So even after consolidating your debts, it is reflected in your report. You can try to dispute it with the bureaus, but I don't think you will succeed in removing it from your report before the 7 year period.

Probably not a missed payment.. Sallie Mae is weird when it comes to reporting. I cosolidated and only have one loan.. yet there are tons of paid on time/never late "closed account" entries on mine. Apparently, every school year & sometimes every semester you take out a student loan it initially gets reported as a new loan on deferment - then later consolidated. Its very aggrating trying to read one's CR when you have to wade through the acres of listings Sallie Mae posts of "closed paid/ never late " listings which sometimes are reported for 3 months or less.
