how long to charge off....

is there a law or something that requires an original creditor to charge of a debt after such a period of nonpayment? Anybody know? Thanks!

so what if i had a creditor that didn't charge it off for three years??? Is that legal?

Sounds like just poor accounting principles. Are you getting this info from your Credit reports? Who is the creditor?
