First off, they dont mention the account#,
They say its from Sears. Which was one the accounts that was settle. This is the problem. I cant find the letter where they said it paid. At the time I was under a debt program and this was on it, however I only have the Limited Power of Attorney on this and the letter saying that I couldnt afford paying the debt. But I cant even find an invoice from Sears, nothing. Cant understand it. Anyway. They havent validated anything in this letter except the the name, and amount owed and the interest due.
The other thing is that on my mom's credit report, it shows LVNV which I read everything about these two companies and know they are bottom feeders.
My question is what is my next step after recieving this letter. Im in the state of NY. I was trying to find if they have a license here, but couldnt find anything.
If you have already settled the debt with Sears three years back
If you have already settled the debt with Sears three years back, it should reflect in your credit report as "settled for less" or "paid as agreed". I think that you should pull out your credit report and have a check.
In your settlement agreement with Sears, was it Settled in Full?
In your settlement agreement with Sears, was it Settled in Full? If not, then they likely sold the debt to LVNV who is one or the worst in the nation. Brachfield is licensed to practice law in CA only, I beleive. Go to www.budhibbs.com for more info on Brachfield and LVNV.
