they are not licensed.so you only owe the principle.it sounds like you paid the principle from your post.i would contact your police department to make sure it was them calling.debts are civil matters and they wouldn't call you.i had a loan with this illegal lender and they tried that with me too.i don't see an llegal lender suing.besides an ACH debit consent is not a check.that is the favorite threat they like to throw out there.

I called the number they gave me and the lady stated that I need to pay 600.00 or go to court. My police department said they would be issuing me a summons if I didn't call them. It just sounds fishy to me. So do I need to send them the letter stating that I know they are not licensed in my state.

Yes, the fraud dept called me cause he thought someone else had used my social security number. He said it was 72 other names on the affadavit. He said they were going to serve me the papers today but he was going to take it out so I could call. He gave me a number and the company was CCR and Associates. I called and they said they would void it if I paid 600.00. I know I paid way more than 25000 in fees for the loan. I'm going to fax other the documents tomorrow. I'm just scared because I don't want to go to court especially for that .

Was this a storefront or internet lender? I'm shocked they'd sue if illegal internet lender.....

It was a internet loan. I'm faxing over the validation letter tomorrow. I just don't know what to do. I didn't think they could sue if they are illegal. That are not licensed in Tn.

Me either.....I'm anxious to get a more senior members thoughts on this.....

Paul, if they are illegal, then HOW did they manage to involve the police dept? Something doesn't fit here...

Also, if they DID involve the police...couldn't the OP sue them for all the violations they are committing?

i still haven't heard that the police are involved.only that they will be.also the only way the police would be involved is to serve a civil summons and they wouldn't call for that.it sounds like a cid spoof and someone claming to be the police.i guarantee if they call there PD they woul say the OP is being scammed.if they called the number provided it was the pdl or ca playing a cop.i don't believe for a second that the police are involved sorry.

Thats what I'm thinking as well. Don't call the number they gave you or the number on your caller id. Get out your phone book and look up your local police department. It will be a local number.

It also sounds strange that they call and say they are going to serve you but they will take it out so you can call about it. That does'nt sound like the p.d.

Actually the police department in my city called me and wanted to let me know that they were trying to sue me but he thought it was a fraud. He was in the fraud dept. I've tried calling him back but he hasn't returned my call. I have sent over the validation letters and a lady sent me only a bill that stated I owed 600.00 so I sent over another validation letter and I haven't heard a word. They are trying to get me for bad check charges because the detective told me they wanted it paid in 10 days. I'm going to fight this to the end because they took way more than I owe them. I'm so mad at them.

so the police contacted you because they suspected fraud on the CA'S part?

I way I read the OP post was that they did call the PD...as JR mentioned...if they didn't call the PD directly they probably just called the CA/PDL back directly...they need to call their local PD directly...as JR mentioned...look up the number seperately.

Yes, the police department in my town called me. I live in a very small town and everyone knows the police department number. When he called and noticed the number, I was wondering why in the world would the police dept be calling me. I have left him messages but he hasn't called me back. I'm going down there today because I actually want to see the paperwork. I have sent CCR and Associates the validation letter twice and haven't heard back. I called and talked to supposedly a attorney and he had his secretary send me a letter but it wasn't a validation letter it was only a letter stating I owe 600.00. I'm going to get to the bottom of this matter.

I sent the validation letter twice and I haven't heard a word from them. I also stated in the email that I knew that they were illegal and they were not licensed in the state of TN. I'm just waiting for a response. Hopefully, it will all be over soon

the OP should go down to there police station and file a report for harrassment.checked yesterday and no PD has a fraud dept.file AG and FTC complaints against the pdl and collector.your PD i don't care if you live in a one-horse town or a metropolis shouldn't be involved at all.this is ridiculous to say the least.le your PD know that you are filing complaints against the pdl and collector.see what happens then.
