Hello, What state are you in? Are you dealing with Internet or store front lenders?

I live in Nebraska - 2 are storefront and 3 are internet

Here is a link that you can use for the Nebraska state laws. Just choose nebraska from the dropdown. I'm pretty sure the store front ones are legal, but what internet PDL's do you have those are the ones that may not be legal and may be charging you to much.

someone needs to tell the truth here. Teach what is right, not what is wrong. Pay your bills is right, running away is wrong. borrowing money and not repaying is disgusting

Just returned from NE bank and financing - Felt like I got the runaround - they told me to go home and fill out complaint forms for all pdls they would look into the matter I even had the messages printed out that said some of these places are illegal

Nah, I would much rather stay.I am in my house, which I am not losing, with all my utilities on, food in the fridge and two nice cars in the drive way, that will not be repo'd. My family and I know how to earn money, and be financially safe. I pay my bills, dont whine about it and never try to figure out ways to get out of my obligations.

Hardy, what is the name of the store fronts you may be able to get an EPP (Extended Payment plan).

1st. Write a letter revoking each payday lenders Ach Authorization & mail them CMRR. You can legally do this up to 3 days in advance but I'd get the ball rolling now that way they can't say they didn't get it (though the illegal ones say they didn't get it anyway.. but at least you'll have proof for your bank).

2. Go into the bank with your Revoke Auth letters, and tell them you want to close your account due to illegal activity. Do this *now* while your account is postive, otherwise once your account gets negative you will have a hard time getting it closed.

3. How much did you borrow from the illegal payday lenders and how much have you paid back in roll over fees. Chances are you don't owe any more money. But if you do, all you owe is the principal. When they start calling they will threaten you with everything from "Going to jail for check fraud" to "being downloaded". Stand your ground and tell them that they are illegal in the state of NB, and that you are willing to pay the principal. WHATEVER you DO NOT give them your new account info. You can pay with a re-loadable debit card, and only load the amount that you agree to pay on it.

Wanted to add that when you talk to your bank go directly to the branch manager not Customer service. Chances are they will give ya the run around (depending on what bank)

Defiantly true, I work at a bank and sometimes the Branch Managers and bankers are capable of doing more than the customer service people.

Yes Cool, which is why I always add talk to the branch manager. Hell half the time with BOFA you have to threaten and actually get OCC involved. And I was going on the assumption that hardy already knew which ones were legal/illegal from his last post.. but yes, a list of lenders would be nice :)

As I read this thread, Idon't think I saw ANYTHING about the OP wanted to default on the PDL. She is doing the RIGHT thing, as in asking for help, with a problem. I don't see how that is NOT PAYING on anything. When people are having financial trouble,...the LAST thing they want to hear is anything 'negative' about the issue. People, on this forum, are willing to give great help and advice, to help ANYONE out. By the way, GUEST.......you don't even have an ID on here.
