myfico, how does it really work
Date: Mon, 06/01/2009 - 00:27
BUT:
on their home page it read that THIS is what they provide:
2 Free Equifax FICO® scores and credit reports
Why Equifax? What about my info form the other two bureaus?
and then under PRODUCTS tab and under FICO Standard - I guess this is what I need if I want to buy my score info, it reads:
1 total
From the bureau of your choice (Equifax or TransUnion)
My issue here is that i don't understand where this score comes from. Experian is not mentioned and my old credit lines are only listed there. In fact my Equifax and TU reports miss a few trade lines which are important.
Also, I am waiting for the only collection to be removed form my files. How fast would this affect my score. Is the score automatically calculated according to the information CURRENTLY on the files.
Should I buy myfico score now or when my collection is removed.
Thank you nice people on this nice forum:) Your help is very appreciated indeed:)

Credit reports are updated monthly. i would wait at least 2 months before you buy your score. Also, it is important to know what is on all three of your credit reports, as well as all three credit scores. A lot of the time lenders will take an average of the three as your score. In my case, equifax always has the lowest score for me, then transunion, and experian has the highest. Get detailed reports and scores to make sure everything is ok. Not all creditors report to all three bureaus. Some only check one and only report to the same one they check, so be informed. Also, i think the best place to get you reports and scores is www.annualcreditreport.com. You get all three from the same site. hope this helps!
