I have been studing this site for weeks. trying to find an answer to a judgment question. I recently pulled my credit report and noticed a creditor who is seeking a judgment has reported the account as a charged off. Now I'm in a battle with the attorneys trying to get a judgment on behave of the company. Can you charge off an account and be party to a judgement to collect also? I've been battling with them for 4 months trying to nail them down on an agrred amount. I just don't want a judgment after they've already entered a charged-off.

A charge off only means that they have reported it as a loss to the IRS. When it is paid, it will change to COR - Charge Off Recovery.

Here is a site that details the Court process for a civil case:

You can also look online (Google) for your local County Courthouse, which will have info on their particular procedures and any forms, etc, that you may need to fill out.
