read the stickies about how to deal with illegal payday loans and closing your bank account. The first thing you need to do is secure your money by closing your bank account (read the sticky first), then send the letter that is listed about 13 posts down in the how to deal with illegal lenders thread adjusting it to your situation and state laws.

When I was dealing with all of mine (about 3 years ago), I sent them the letter every way that I could contact them. I mailed, emailed & faxed all of them (even called some, if you can actually find a phone number that will actually get you to a real person). I re-emailed and faxed them every couple of days, until I eventually received a response. I would say that you just need to be persistent with them.

Well, generally it was a case of just leaving a voice mail for someone. Basically, I was calling to follow up on my letter that was mailed/emailed/faxed to them. Informed them that I had emailed/faxed them, and that I needed a response from them regarding marking my account as paid in full. Now, I only had one person that actually called me back and agreed to the paid in full; but my intention was basically to bug them until I got some kind of a response. My payday loans were all online, none were storefronts. Eventually, I got paid in full letters from all but three of them, I believe. A couple of them just never responded back at all. I just made sure to save a copy of every letter, fax or email that was sent to each lender. I still have copies of everything now, almost three years later. Just felt like it was a good idea to have some kind of proof of my contact with them. I have only had problems with one, which turned my loan over to a collection agency (this is on a $300.00 loan, which I paid a total of $830.00 on). I had more than paid back my principle on all of my loans, plus any legal fees for my state. So I was pretty intent on not paying anything else to them.

Okay good to know............I have 5 and I've paid back principal only on 1 but on other 4 overpaid b/w 40 and THOUSANDS....What I've read on this forum though I think ones I have won't just roll over.....Eastside, GFS, Ameriloan, VC Funding and PDL loan center...That is pretty awesome you only had collections on 1! I haven't even gotten one PIF yet....Today is a week since they've missed a payment.

Trust me, coming across this site when I did was a true blessing to me. I couldn't see anyway out of the mess that I was in, and was really stressing about it. I got great advice here. I don't even like to think about how many hundreds of dollars I overpaid on all of these loans, but at least I did manage to get them marked as paid in full.

So Loan shop, CMG and Pay day services settled. However, US Fast Cash, ACC, United cash and Geneva Roth have gone completely silent. Heard nothing from them after sending repeated letters about being illegal and only owing principle. I suspect they will pop up again sometime but I don't known when. Guess I just wait for them...
