I received a harassing call from Allied today. I informed the rep that I had disputed the claim, a year or so ago and had sent letters requesting a summary of payment history. The rep said he saw that I sent letters, but they had denied my request. I asked how would I know if it was denied if they hadn't contacted me. He said in a very rude manner, because "they don't have to". I told him he didn't have to be rude, but I wanted a payment history. He told me that it was too late, it was in collection and they wanted their money and they did not have to furnish any information to me. He said "the fact is you better pay your bill". I told him not to call my work again, but to contact me at home and I gave him my home number. I did not know until I was surfing the net to find information about Allied that I can request that they contact via mail only. I got his name, but I did not get an address. I would like to report their tactics. This is an old claim and I still haven't received a payment history and I still dispute the claim. Can you help me with an address? They left a message with a area code of 253 and I live in Washington state. I haven't received any correspondence from them, just phone calls. I have copies of the letters I sent. I told him I would be contacting the AG office regarding his tactics. Please advise

Birdie, it's tough dealing with allied interstate. Use your legal rights and send them a debt validation letter. You have the right to ask for the accurate information about your accounts from the collection agency before paying them. They should necessarily give you the debt validation details. Read this page for a better explanation on debt validation procedure.

I suggest you should also contact that credit bureau who is reporting this account. Put this item on dispute with them. They will verify it and send you the correct details. Either, your file will show it as 'disputed' or it will have the name of the agency that is presently holding this account legitimately.
