Are you the co-borrower to the debt along with your husband? If it is so, you are also responsible for the debt.
Now, when the creditor/plaintiff files a lawsuit, you will receive a summon where it will be mentioned that you need to file an answer to it by visiting the clerk's office within 30 days. If you do not file the response to the summon, the plaintiff may bring a default judgment against you to recover the debt. On the "answer to the summon sheet" you need to mention whether you agree or do not agree to the charges brought against you by the creditor.
If you file a response to the summon, you will be given a court date where you will be given a chance to defend yourself.
