My TransUnion CR has this entry:
HSBC
Balance: $6356
Date Updated: 03/2009
High Balance: $11,954
Credit Limit: $10,100
Past Due: >720Charged Off as Bad Debt<
Account Type: Revolving Account
Responsibility: Individual Account
Date Opened: 02/2000
Date Closed: 09/2002
Loan Type: Credit Card
Remark: Account closed by consumer
Estimated date that this item will be removed: 08/2009

This was sold to The Bureaus immediately and it does not show on CR that it was sold. Shouldn't this show a -0- balance?

On one of the other CR, I can't remember which, there is an entry placed by The Bureaus that will not drop off for 7 more years. Is this legal? Isn't this re-aging at its finest? Seems to me that HSBC should show as bought and The Bureaus should drop off at the same time as the HSBC entry. I am waiting for all 3 CR to be mailed to me to see exactly what has been done with my credit report. After reading all this about re-aging I am starting to get annoyed by the tricks these people use to keep this on a persons credit report for longer than it should be.

What recourse would I have against the original creditor if they still show a balance yet they told me the account was legally sold to The Bureaus, Inc.?

What recourse would I have with The Bureaus, Inc.?

I guess I am lucky as it is going to drop off my CR 8/09. I have been so lucky to have paid all the fees and made payments all along and still get written off? These creditors and banks are tricky. They sure don't play fair.

If the Bureaus reported a different Date of First Default than the OC, then, yes, it is re-aging. A derogatory can only be reported for 7 years + 180 days from the DOFD. Call the reporting CRA and ask for the DOFD as reported by the datat furnisher for both the OC's and JDB's tradeline. If they do not match, file a dispute based on that information. If The Bureaus does not correct, send them an ITS for FCRA violations.
