ok i got a phone call from nco trying to collect on a delinquent cc account..dola 4 yrs, item is scheduled to drop off credit file 2/2010..so its been there awhile..anyway i got phone call and sent dv letter, and about 4 wks later i got the"your account is closed in our office" letter. Now, oc still owns the account and is reporting such..after researching account with the paperwork i have, nco has had this account for several years..since they have closed the file, what will happen next????

more than likely it was either sold to another CA or you can try to contact the OC and work out a settlement.if you can't pay it then the next CA you send the same dv letter.

Did you default on the card? Is that what is going to drop off your credit report? If it is dont pay them. i saw on the suze orman show that Credit card companies cannot do anything to you if you dont pay and you default and they report it as defalted on your credit report, cuz they are unsecured debt. if they went into default and are only bothering you now that the debt is about to be literally erased, they are just trying to get whatever they can. Do a little more research on the web to confirm but the same thing happened to me and i didnt pay and its now off my credit report like it never happened.
