I have 2 cards that I stopped paying on so I could do a settlement, but the ended up going on my girlfriends credit report. We have been together for 5 and a half years, we have lived to gether for 2 years in Texas, and we do not have a joint account. The cards are only in my name also. Can they do this?

Right, but by giving her a card, did she have to sign something, making her a co-owner, or did you just list her as an authorized user. If she's an AU, then dispute the reporting...if you listed her as a co-owner/applicant and you gave them her SS #, then this may be more complicated.

I would contact the OC and verfiy how they have her listed.
Let us know so we can help you further.

I remember exactly how I added her. When I applied for the card, it asked if I wanted any extra cards with someone elses name on it. All I have to do was add her first and last name. Nothing else. She is not a co-owner/applicant. So by this, do you think she can dispute it? Also, how would we go about doing this?

I would say that she is only an authorized user...I would call the creditor and ask how they have her listed...if they say co-owner, tell them that is incorrect...and to provide you with any contract that she signed.

Then I would send a letter to the creditor demanding that she be removed and that they remove any credit reporting on her report since she is not a co-owner. Send CMRRR.

After you receive the green card back, have her write to the credit bureaus disputing the credit line as "not hers/mine."

I am having the same problem with my grandmother's card. It is showing on my credit report - I am not an AU, only authorized to speak to the company about the account ( the account has been closed for years and she asked that I be added to speak with them on her behalf about 6 mo ago - after that is when it showed up) b/c I was helping her make her payments.

Good info here! I will try this as well to get it off of my report. Thanks!
