How to find out if credit card is past SOL

I'm checking my credit report. I live in NC. The SOL for credit cards is 3 years. Does this start from when the last payment was not made.
Also a couple more questions? If your credit report does not reflect when last payment was made how can I find this out.
Also what does it mean on your credit report statement as follows Date of First Delinquency. Is this the date to which the last payment was made?
The card is in collections now, credit report shows date reported 12/2008, then date of major delinquency 05/2008, then first delinquency 11/04
I'm trying to find out if this accouunt is 3 years old.
I'm pretty sure it is and i have 30 days to respond to the collection company. I don't dispute the monies and if I respond to the collection company and they send me all the info, does this mean I have to go to court afterwards?

Dispute with the CA. Ask them for date and method of last payment. Usually they will send you a copy of the statement. In my state it is 6 years +180 days. So the sol for you may be 3 years + 180 days. So (if I figured this right the last payment should have been 10/04 ) so the sol should have been up in 5/08.
But make sure you send out a letter disputing the account and make sure you send it CMRRR. Plus if the debt is past the sol they can still try to collect the debt but they cannot sue you for it.

You will have to go to the post office and fill out a green card. then when they get the letter they have to sign for it and you get the green card back in the mail showing they signed for the letter. This way they cannot come back and say they diddn't get the letter.
