Debt Collection

A CA was trying to make me pay a debt that I told them I din't owe. But they never responded to my communications. An attorney called the original creditor and found out that the debt was indeed already paid and that I didn't owe anything. Can I sue the collection agency for their non-cooperation?

The CA has reported the debt. The OC had infact, or so they said, no idea that the CA was attempting to collect this debt. I already disputed the debt once but the CA rejected my dispute saying the debt holds good. I have told OC to update the CA about the payment made.
