These clowns started harrassing me recently about a 12 year old credit card debt. The guy that called me was a fast talker, very rude and pushy. I told him that I would not discuss anything on the phone with him and if he wouldl like to send me something in the mail that I would be glad to give it to my attorney and we would go from there. He asked very rudely if asend me something in the mail, yadda yadda yadda. Which just pissed him off even more. Then he asked me to give him my attorneys name and number and I would never have to hear from him again and I said I dont have to hear from you now Stop calling me and I hung up. So they continued to call everyday for 3 weeks and I contacted an attorney here in Michigan that specializes in this sort of thing (I wont mention the name because I dont know if its against the rules) and they had me send a debt validation/cease and desist letter Which Academy got around 9AM on Friday morning (this was a few weeks ago) They called me at 10:30 that friday, they called again on saturday, monday (memorial day) Tuesday I finally talked with someone and I went off I told her that I sent the letters and they were still calling and I was P-O'ed she assured me it would be fixed within 24 hours about 28 hours goes by and Iget another call I went off again They finally stopped calling and the lawyers are suing for at least $1000 plus their fees. I don't know if I will ever see a dime and I dont honestly care if I do my goal was to get these people to leave me alone

You did the right thing - Academy is a junk debt buyer and routinely purchases out of SOL debt files for pennies on the dollar and attempts to collect on them. They are counting on a consumer's ignorance of the law to get them to pay a debt that they KNOW is too old to collect on.
