Sent CD letter and still being contacted...

Hello,
I sent a Request letter to stop contact (by collection agencies) (I got it off this website's letter section) to a creditor and have sent payment to the original creditor. The collection agency received the letter (I sent it certified) and yet they called me yesterday at work as well as on my cell phone. They also re posted it to my credit report.
Since I have choosen to work with the original creditor and requested they stop their collection efforts, shouldn't they stop?
I know they should stop calling me, but can they still report it to the credit bureaus? (It is within SOL for both the credit bureaus and my state and so they have the legal right to collect it)
I have not done a debt validation letter yet as I am trying to work with the original creditor. The original creditor will not remove it from the collection agency until they have received payment.
I appreciate your help! Thank you.
