Any "good" PDLs?
Date: Mon, 06/15/2009 - 09:42
I don't really want to "promote" any particular company, but if there is one out there not quite as bad as the rest, i'd appreciate knowing who it is.
Thanks

Absolutely NO Internet lenders are any better than the others as far as interest & fees.
If you MUST borrow, at least do it from a store front lender. As far as store front lenders, find out the names of them in your area and post them here, then perhaps SOMEone in this forum can give you some feedback about their services.
I honestly can NOT recommend ANY payday lender.
The state you are in makes a difference also, so that information would be helpful to us. Get to know your payday loan laws BEFORE you do anything.

I've never had a PDL personally so I don't know of any that may be somewhat ok.. but I would make sure you exhaust every possible option first.
Do you have anything you can sell for quick $? Collectibles, extra stuff, yard sale, etc.
What about getting a side job - mowing lawns, babysitting, cleaning, etc?
Do you any friends or family you could borrow $ from - even if it's $25 from this one, $50 from that etc.
Where can you trim costs? Cable/internet/cell/grocery bill (noodles! --- local food banks/churches/other ogranization to help w/ food)

While it seems to be a 'quick fix,' these type of loans are a terrible thing to get started. It may be really hard right now, but just think of how much harder it will be to try to make ends meet PLUS pay back the loan... you may borrow $300 but pay back substanially more.
Check out this thread too --- http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/paydayloan/zip19-checkgo-california.html
it is on the same forum as your post and titled Need a PDL, please help...

To me, asking for a "good" PDL is the same as asking for a good cigarette. There might be a good cigarette, but it's going to still kill you in the long run!
Same with PDL's. Sure, there might be those that are not as sleazy as some, but it's still the same flawed, bad, bad BAD business model--and this model will never help you get ahead. You're still going to pay lots of money for the same relatively small loan. You start with just one, and then need another one just to get ahead and then need one more, and soon, you'll wake up to most of your paycheck going for the interest charges. It happened to me and it happened to many people on this board.
Take heed to the advice you got in this thread. Look for other ways to make fast cash. You'll be glad you did!

thanks for the advice everyone. I only have another 1.5 weeks before payday and I am going to try to sqeek it out. I just joined a carpool so I think I'll be OK in terms of having enough money to cover gas (if I was not car pooling there would be no way...I commute 100 miles round trip and have to fill up 2-3 x per week). As for food..I am going to check a local food bank. The cell phones will probably get shut off but thats not the end of the world. I can make the payment once I get paid I guess.

i would call your cell phone company, usually they will let you make arrangements and let your phone stay on longer. i used to do that every month, lol.
i personally have gotten by with very little money for groceries, it can be done. food banks really might help also, i know how hard it is and wish you the best of luck :)

Are there any Plasma centers around your area. I know the one in my area gives you $70 the first week you donate and $50 each additional week. I've actually decided to start doing that this Saturday. It's a nice easy way to earn and extra $200 for me every month.

What's so gross about it? Your actually helping other people. If it's something you don't like or want to do then fine but don't knock others for doing it. I know a lot of people at my company who do it and they are far from being hard up for cash. And yes, some people actually do it because they need the extra money and there is absolutly nothing wrong with it.
Ok, well my last post was actually a response to the Guest post
Ok, well my last post was actually a response to the Guest post that is no longer there, so please disregard..LOL
