I am a medical transcriptionist. I worked at a hospital making good money. After working there for 14 years, they closed the department and I got work as an at-home transcriptionist. Then off shoring really took hold and my once fantastic paycheck when down to minimum wage. I filed bankruptcy thinking that would help but the bills kept coming and my pay did not go up with the new voice recognition system like they promised. I ended up taking out some payday loans with the intention of paying them back but that did not work out.

I sold my house thinking I would get out of debt that sold it for less than what it was worth because the house market sank and then the recession hit.

So, here I am, broke, still a transcriptionist because even thought it pays minimum wage it is cheaper to work at home than to buy gas for my car and go to work for minimum wage.

My goal is to get out of debt and I am serious about this.

Welcome to the Community :D I had to go back to school and did some upgrading on my job, and it helped alot-gave me a little more freedom on where I could work.

You mentioned pay day loans. If this is the area you are havng problems with, go to the Pay Dday Loan forum and post what type,internet-storefront,the amount borrowed and paid back, the companies, etc., and someone will be along to help.

There are alot of posts, also, in that forum that should be of help to you--good luck--let us know what happens...karen
