Whats best for me??

I have approximately $30,000 in debt, I am being sued by 1 creditor and in collections with 3 others. Ideally I'd like to do a debt consolidation rather than settlement. Only because I read settlement has more of a negative impact on your credit and also because sometimes you have to pay taxes on the settled amount at the end of the year. Is this true?
Also, I have yet to find a good debt consolidation program that has an honest reputation.
Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

I went with debt management. You send your money to them and they deal with your creditors. As for the one that is suing you, i dont know, but all of your other debt can be addressed. Try town and country acceptance. I use them and they have been very helpful. I too have about 30000 in debt and if all goes well, iwill be debt free in less than 3 years. Look them up on the BBB website and in this forum. i dont know if they work in your particular state but they have been a lifesaver to me and have lifted a huge weight off my shoulders.
