Ok so I had a debt collector call me saying 2 years ago I defaulted on a loan, now they are threatening to serve a summons and make me pay 1500.00 for a 500.00 loan. Can I make payments? Can they arrest me? I dont even know if its my debt 100%. I filled out a lot of online requests for loans but noone approved me, could that be part of this?? I am really scared. :(

Please don't be scared, this sounds like a scam to me. Unless they send you something in writing to your address that states the amount of the debt, who is owed, and a copy of a signed contract by you obtaining a loan there isn't a thing they can do to you. Next time they call tell them to go piss up a rope. You can NOT go to jail for owing a debt.

i agree, this sounds like a scam - one thing though is i noticed lately it seems that they have american call centers making these threats so the accent thing only works sometimes..
