You have nothing to do but to wait for the FTC to take their step. However, you are not liable to pay them unless you get the debt validated from them. I think you should send an intent to sue letter to the collection agency asking them either to validate the debt or you will move to the court.

Yes a charged off account can be sold and attempted to be collected on. The problem collection agencies have is how to properly validate the debt. Dispute the debt and have them validate the debt. Remember in writing and certified mail. DO NOT CALL THEM EVER.
