Sending cease and desist letter via fax

Hello. I'm just wondering if it's acceptable to send the cease & desist letter via fax instead of certified & return receipt snail mail?

It has worked for me on most occasions but it is normal practice
It has worked for me on most occasions but it is normal practice to send it certified mail with return receipt. If faxing, make sure you send it 4 or 5 times so there is no chance of hearing, "we never received it".
