Got a call from First National about a debt my wife had back in 1999, we live in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the SOL is 6 years. After reading your letters called the company disputed the $1000.00+ dollars they said my wife owed and they closed the account out. Also told them if they call back my attorney would be calling. I was told even though this debt was not on her credit report the collection company can still go after this money.....Asset Acceptance LLC who held the debt first told me this and they turned it over to First National (s%*t rolls down hill). Don't play there game, they pray on people and hope to get paid.......fight em till the end!!!!

The creditor can never collect the debt legally after the SOL expiry. Moreover the negative item cannot stay in your report after seven years. Since both seven years and the SOL has already expired, the debt can never affect your credit score. However, if you make even a small payment towards the debt, the SOL will rewind and the creditor can again sue you to recover the entire debt.
