Send them a DV letter by CMRRR; answer the call and tell them that now have 5 days to send you a dunning letter.

The last CA that had this never sent me the 5 day dunning letter, they kept saying they did, but they never did, so I kept falling back on that with them, when they would call, I would keep asking them to send me something in writing, and they would keep saying that they did. Anyway, that keep them off my back, so they would only call maybe once a month, this new CA has already called twice today. I'm just trying to figure out the best thing to do. Thanks for you input.

Thanks for the input. I think I know which card this place is trying to collect on, but I'm not positive. I had a Washington Mutual and it got sold to SST, that was before I defaulted on the card, and then SST sold it to Apex Financial Management. But Apex would never send me anything in writing, as a matter of fact SST when I got behind after so long, would only send me a letter stating what was past due and not what the whole balance was. It really makes me wondering if they will be able to validate, since they would never send me anything in writing or if they are just trying to play games with me.

Alot of the bottom feeding collection agencies pass the debt among their dba's or sell it in a portfolio or bundle if they cannot collect on it.
Whoever is trying to collect, keep notes of days and times of calls, what was said,if you talk with them, and also copies of all correspondence you send or they send.
In dealing with one of the agencies,I had long paid off,and figured they owed me in excess of 10,000 bucks, I documented any and everything. Then, in my letters to them I stated any violations they had done and sent them copies of previous letters to them.
You need to make sure they are legally able to collect, this is your debt, and that the amount is correct. Good Luck!!..karen
I am having same issue
I too had a wamu that was sold.
First it was a providian, then a wamu bought providian then chase bought wamu. I was working on a payment plan when they were bought out by chase. Lost contact then saw the charge on my report.
I believe Apex is a subsidiary of Hilco and are collecting for them. I'll tell you, I paid this card twice over but interest and fees blah blah blah kept the principle steady.
I bet they are calling w/o sending anything b/c they don't have an address. Makes you wonder if they can validate.
