Let's say you owe Chase $10,000 and are months and months past due.....
How do you get them to settle for a $4,000 offer you made, without them just saying "No", and expecting you to just give them the money you DO have as a normal payment to catch up on your full balance?
(I hope that all made sense)

Hi Sweetjane
If your account is 180 days past due, the creditors normally agree to settle the debt somewhere between 40 and 50% of the outstanding amount. This is because if you are delinquent with your payments, the creditors fear that you may file bankruptcy and they may get back nothing.
