Do these people from India actually ever list on the Credit Report or do they just annoy you?
I been getting calls that say to call the number and that they are Amex, call the number and it is an answering machine telling you to leave number you are calling from.
I googled the number and it is all the same 'say they are from Amex, calls to Amex never heard of them" etc.
I talked to them this morning and tried to get them to ID themself they say they are Amex. Told the guy that Amex says that number is not theirs. He said to call the number he gave me and dial ext 94 and I would get him. I said I would call the number for Amex and ask for his ext and see if I got him.
It did not work, Amex says that my account was turned over to an agency in AZ. The "manager" came on and I told him that Amex said that they have nobody in India. Then he said that they said they represent Amex. And I said that is a lie and I will not give him any personal info until I know who I am talking to. He hung up.

There is a notorious call center in india that does just this sort of thing. They lie and threaten but from all i have heard, they have never put a single thing on anyone's credit. I think it is because if they were to put it on a credit report, they would have to identify themselves and then they could be traced....and I am sure there are legions of people who would be VERY happy to get good location information on them, because the lawsuits would start avalanching all over this illegal company.

If it's coming from india and for AMEX, chances are it's Global Vantedge. I had the same deal last year, DV'ed the collection agency and never heard from them again.
