Being sued by FIA Card Services
Date: Tue, 07/14/2009 - 16:40
Three weeks ago a man wearing a badge knocked on my door and handed me a summons.
Im being sued by "FIA Card Services, NA FKA MBNA America BAnk NA" for $2500 of credit card debt. There was a paper attached to the summons from something called National Arbitration Forum (which i later found out is a company owned by one of the creditor's attorneys) stating that they "arbitrated" and awarded this amount to FIA Card Services. I never heard about any of this; the first thing im hearing is the knock on my door saying i got served.
Within days I responded to that Summons by going to court. I was surprised because when i got to court, I found out there was no court date, i was just there to "appear" and pay $175 and get assigned a real court date, which is this coming thursday. What should I do when i get to court? all of this is happening so fast - please help!
