Does a harship program prevent you from using your card?

If you enroll in a hardship program does that prevent you from using your credit card in the future. This question regards BOFA specifically. I only have one credit card 18k balance. I can make the payments but would rather have a lower interest rate so I can get it paid off sooner. I would still like to have the card for emergencies. Thanks!
