Hello,

I'm new to posting but I have read many other posts and were very pleased with the knowledgeable answers. This is my situation:

I have four online payday loans that I have with progressive, I've only paid the initial amount in which all except $5.00 went towards their fees. Everytime I think that the best out might be for me to cancel, they talk me out of it. I decided to get some experts opinions and I will move forth. The calls have stopped from everyone because besides closing my account, I just delete their voicemails.
My smallest balance is with Cashnet (I will list them and the amounts at bottom) Could I possibly settle for a little less with cashnet and pay them out ASAP. As for the others, would they be willing to set up a payment arrangement with me. If I had all those fees to pay progressive, then I wouldn't have to consolidate payday loans I could just pay them out instantly!

Cashnetusa - 270.00
United Cash - 390.00
500FastCash - 520.00
Cash TransfersCenter - 1905.00(I'm a school teacher so not concerned about the wage assignment thing)

CashNetUSA is going to be legal. CashTransfer Center is illegal. Not sure on united cash or 500fastcash but I'm thinking 500 fast cash is illegal. Have you read the sticky on dealing with illegal lenders? If not I would start there. You can definetly do it yourself it just takes time to research and write letters. You can also search each companies name in the box on the top right of this page to find out what others are saying about them.

United Cash Loans is located at the same address as USFastCash, & AmeriLoan. A subsequent BBB investigation determined that this address is the address for offices of the Miami Nation Indian Tribe. During its investigation of these companies, BBB employees visited the location as well as sent a certified letter to the Chief of the Tribe asking for further information regarding these companies. Employees of the Miami Nation Indian Tribe neither confirmed nor denied knowledge of the loan companies, and informed BBB staff that they would have to speak to the Miami Nation Indian Tribe's Leadership concerning the matter. BBB has not received a response from the Chief concerning this matter. At the present time, BBB does not know if these companies are operated by the Tribe, by employees or other people using the Tribe's addresses, or is a joint venture between the Tribe and a for-profit company.

The complaints against this company and others located at the same address generally allege the inability to pay off the requested loan, charges to the consumer's checking or credit card account despite never receiving the requested loan, or continued unauthorized charges to the consumer's credit card or checking account once the loan has been paid off.

BBB has determined that this company is not licensed in the state of Oklahoma to provide loans to consumers and does not appeare to be licensed in any of the states from which consumers have filed complaints with BBB. However, if the Miami Indian Tribe actually operates this business, it may not be subject to state laws regulating this industry.

BBB encourages all consumers seeking loans of any kind to research all of their options before providing any private financial information or signing any loan papers. Consumers should check with BBB on the company's grade, their complaint volume, and whether or not the company is licensed or regulated to provide the type of loan services the customer is seeking.

Personally I think you would be far better off to cancel with progressive and do it on your own. I base this on...my husband researched and contacted several debt consolidation companies prier to us just doing it on our own.

Almost all of the debt consolidating companies wanted us to open a separate checking account giving them authorization to do ach transactions. They add up the total amount owed on all the debts, then they charge you a percentage of those debts as their fee. Usually it was on average 12%. Now you make deposits into the checking account. Once you reach the 12%, they will withdraw their funds first from your account...........and only now are we ready to start the settlements with the PDL companies. Very long and draw out process!!! And basically all they do is hold your money in the account until you have enough to pay off the loan.

With help from this site, we found we could do it on our own and not pay any additional fees to a consilidation company.
